Meerut district president of the Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha Mohammed Shamsher Malik confirmed to media that he ordered the hoarding to be put up and claimed that it was Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh who advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to target Pakistan through surgical strikes.

"We are not playing any politics over the sacrifices and valour of the soldier as the posters were displayed to congratulate the jawans and Mulayam Singh Yadav," he said.

Malik added further and said, "The posters credits Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh for the surgical strikes because Mulayam ji did call Prime Minister Narendra Modi and asked him to conduct the surgical strikes while stating that the Samajwadi Party is with them (Centre) in this step."

"Mulayam opinion counts, he has been a former Home Minister and is considered as a senior person in the Indian politics," he added.

In the hoarding, placed at Novelty Chowk in the city, pictures of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, CM Akhilesh Yadav and Malik can be seen, along with a message thanking the Indian Army for the surgical strike, and Mulayam, on whose advice the Indian government carried out the strike.
