Eight killed, 19 injured in train collision in UP

Bijnor: At least eight people were killed and 19 others were injured when a tractor trolley collided with a train at a railway crossing on Najibabad Kotdwar road near Samirpur in Bijnor.

As per reports, four people died on the spot after the collision while the injured are currently undergoing treatment.

"The train was going from Najibabad to Kotdwar, it collided with the tractor at Semapur level crossing. Three people died on the spot, 23 injured were taken to Semapur hospital. 19 people were referred to district hospital, one died in this hospital and the other three are under treatment," said Shailendra Lal, police official.

The state government has, meanwhile, announced Rs 2 lakh each as compensation to the families of those killed and Rs 50 thousand each to the injured.
