Lucknow: The political storm over the widely condemned Dadri lynching incident is not going to die down soon with reports now quoting the RSS students’ wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) as claiming that the death of 50-year-old Muslim Mohammad Akhlaq was the result of a “personal dispute” and not the rumoured “consumption of beef”.

As per a report published in the “The Indian Express”, the ABVP strongly believes that one of the two sons of Mohammad Akhlaq had a “love affair with a Hindu girl”, which led to his killing by the mob in the Dadri village.

The ABVP, which is about to make this claim at its annual state-level convention due to be held in Sitapur from November 1-3, also alleged that the Dadri incident was wrongly projected by the politicians as a fallout of “beef consumption”.

Interestingly, despite claiming a 'love angle' to the Dadri incident, the ABVP is not clear on which one of the two sons of Akhlaq had an “affair” with a Hindu girl.

The fresh twist to the Dadri incident comes several days after Akhlaq was dragged out of his home and killed by a mob allegedly following rumours that his family was storing and consuming beef.

His 22-year-old son Danish was also badly assaulted and received serious injuries.

Danish’s elder brother Sartaj is a technician in the Indian Air Force in Chennai.

As per the report, the ABVP would talk about the Dadri incident during a discussion on “appeasement politics” on the first day of the convention. The RSS' students' wing will also seek  suggestions on the matter from young participants attending the convention on the next day.

Meanwhile, Governor Ram Naik has also been invited as chief guest by the ABVP.

“It has appeared in a section of the media in western UP that one of Akhlaq’s sons had an affair with a local Hindu girl and his family was attacked on the same dispute,” ABVP Awadh region organisation secretary Satya Bhan was also quoted as saying by the The Indian Express.

“But leaders of different political parties diverted the issue towards another reason, of beef consumption, for appeasement of minorities for political gains. UP minister Azam Khan’s move to write to the UN… also maligned the image of India. It will be clarified at the convention,” Bhan added.

Satya Bhan also confirmed that the Dadri incident has been included under the “appeasement politics” discussion as the UP government had provided financial help only because the victim belonged to a particular community.

The other issues on the agenda would be communal harmony, women’s security, female foeticide, commercialisation of education, student union elections, terrorism, unemployment, poor condition of farmers in UP, law and order situation of the state and “involvement of foreign forces in promoting Naxal activities in the country”.
