Mahagatbandhan on cards for UP polls? JD(U), RLD to attend Samajwadi Party`s silver jubilee celebrations
Congress` strategist for Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kishor met Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh at his residence on Tuesday.
Lucknow: With Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) deciding to attend Samajwadi Party Swarn Jayanti Samaroh on November 5, it seems a 'Mahagatbandhan' is expected to become a reality before the coming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh on the lines of Bihar.
Earlier, JD(U) leader KC Tyagi had said that the efforts are on to have a Mahagatbandhan with different political outfits before the UP elections to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Interestingly, Congress' strategist for Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kishor met Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh at his residence on Tuesday.
Earlier, Kishor and SP Uttar Pradesh chief Shivpal Yadav are said to have met at Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader KC Tyagi's residence.
Shivpal Yadav has also invited RDL leader Ajit Singh and Tyagi to the anniversary function of SP on November 5.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who embarked on 'Vikas Rath Yatra' today said, any alliance or a Mahagatbandhan will be decided by party chief Mulayam.
The high-voltage UP elections will be a close contest between ruling Samajwadi Party, Narendra Modi-powered BJP and the Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party.
Though, Congress has roped in master strategist Kishor to manage its poll campaign, however, it seems the grand old party wouldn't do well in the the politically sensitive state.
