Lucknow: A day after the riot-victims residing in Malakpur relief camp in Shamli district here refused to vacate the place, the Uttar Pradesh police has issued an arrest warrant against organiser of the relief camp on Monday.
According to the police, the warrant has been issued against Kanwar Hassan for not allowing the relief camp to be shut. Earlier, a team of officials from Baghpat had visited the Malakpur camp and appealed the victims to return to their native villages. But the victims had refused to leave the camp owing to fear.
On the other hand, Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind of Delhi Hakimuddin has alleged that the district authorities are trying to vacate the camp without giving any alternative place.
A huge political uproar has hit the Akhilesh government for not taking appropriate action to settle down these distressed riot-hit people. Over 60 people were killed in communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and nearby areas in September 2013, while more than 43,000 were displaced. Meanwhile, under heavy opposition fire on his government`s move to withdraw cases against Muslim leaders for their alleged role in the Muzaffarnagar riots, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said a final decision would be taken only after a threadbare scrutiny of the cases.
Yadav also categorically denied reports of forceful evacuation of riot victims from relief camps in Shamli.
