No band-baaja, nach-gaana at Muslim weddings?
The unanimous decision was taken at a meeting presided over by senior cleric Maulana Qari Syed Ishaq Guara in Saharanpur.
Lucknow: Muslim weddings may soon be devoid of bands and singing and dancing if clerics have their way.
Clerics in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, in a bid to check lavish weddings, have decided that they will not solemnise marriages where bands are played and guests sing and dance, Deccan Chronicle reported.
The unanimous decision was taken at a meeting presided over by senior cleric Maulana Qari Syed Ishaq Guara in Saharanpur.
At the meeting, clerics dubbed playing of band, singing and dancing, and dowry as against Islam and called for curbing the same.
Clerics said that Islam does not allow extravagant spending in weddings.
