Noida: Noida Board today gave its approval to the draft byelaws barring use of polythene having up to 40 micron thickness in the satellite town as well as dumping of polythene and non-biodegradable garbage into drains.

The sanction to the draft was given at a board meeting, which also announced measures for the benefit of farmers. "New Okhla Industrial Development Authority Non biodegradeable garbage and polythene (control) bye laws 2015 draft has been approved by the Noida Board today.


"Now it will be sent for state government approval and then implemented after getting approval and publication of gazette notification by state government," said Rama Raman, Chairman and chief executive officer Noida.


To ban dumping of polythene and non-biodegradable garbage, authority has formed the byelaws. Polythene use of upto 40 micron thickness will be totally banned in Noida after the gazette notification.


Byelaws have been formed as per the guidelines of Uttar Pradesh Plastic and other non bio degradable garbage (regulations of use and disposal) act 2000.


Rs 5,000 fine will be slapped on the use of non- biodegradeable polythene or dumping other such garbage in public drains or on streets.


Board has also approved allotment of residential plots to farmers whose land was acquired between 1976 to 1997. Around 2,349 such farmers will be benefited.
