The former Delhi chief minister described Sonia Gandhi's daughter and Robert Vadra's wife Priyanka as an asset for the Congress.

She said, “If she (Priyanka Gandhi) joins in, will welcome her. She is the right person and will be an asset for the party in the election campaign for the crucial UP elections.”

Dikshit, however, refused to comment on her role in the election campaign. When asked whether she would be appointed as the CM candidate, the Congress stalwart said: “I will do whatever the party asks me to, let the announcement happen first.”

Earlier, Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad and many party members have openly pitched in for Priyanka to actively enter into the political battlefield.

With high-voltage Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections just months away, speculations regarding Priyanka and Dikshit joining the battlefield, are getting rife every passing day.

Meanwhile, the reports have stated that Priyanka will play a huge role in the crucial elections. She is believed to address a 150 rallies across Uttar Pradesh ahead of the state assembly elections in 2017. Traditionally, she has only campaigned in Amethi and Rae Bareli.
