Agra: Agra Police has admitted to lapses in the initial stages of investigation into the murder of a 23-year-old research scholar in a private university last month.
According to Inspector General of Police, Agra Zone, Ashutosh Pandey the police committed mistakes in the initial stages of the investigation which had resulted in several problems. Though much evidence had been collected, it had not been properly put together, Pandey said, adding that he was trying ascertain the motive behind the murder and as to who could be the beneficiary.
The statements of suspects and forensic tests reports were being re-examined so as to reach a concrete evidence to nab culprits, the IG said. Neha Sharma, a PhD scholar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the nanotechnology laboratory on March 16 at a private educational institute here.
