New Delhi: Days after Samajwai Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav ruled out any pre-poll alliance, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday appeared not averse to an alliance with Congress for high-voltage UP Assembly polls 2017.

While commenting on the alliance issue, Akhilesh Yadav was of the opinion that a tie-up with Congress for UP polls can win over 300 seats in the 403-member House.

However, the UP CM categorically stated that a final decision on any alliance will be taken by the party supremo and he can only give suggestions.

Akhilesh, however, categorically stated tha the Samajwadi Party won't align with Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party under any circumstances.

Speaking at the HT Leadership Summit, the UP CM hit back at BSP chief Mayawati, who had recently mocked him for calling her 'bua', saying her problem is that BSP is not in contention to capture power and added that he will no longer call her 'bua' (father's sister).

When asked if SP leader Amar Singh was also a contender for the Chief Minister's post in UP, Akhilesh said, “"It is a big dream.”

He, however, asserted that the murky infighting that put his uncle Shivpal Yadav against him is behind him and he, "like Arjun is focusing on one goal, which is to form government in the state again".

The UP CM also hit out at the Narendra Modi-led government over demonetisation.
