New Delhi: Even as politics continues on the Dadri lynching episode, intelligence agencies have warned of a possible terror attack in Uttar Pradesh.

Based on intercepts by the Intelligence Bureau and intelligence wing of Uttar Pradesh Police, terror groups are trying to take advantage of the tense atmosphere and are attempting to activate sleeper cells to carry out bomb blasts across the state.


A report published in 'Times of India' says that the terror groups are likely to target Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders Ashok Singhal and Pravin Togadia.

Speaking to the newspaper, Senior superintendent of police for Government Railway Police Gopeshnath Khanna confirmed that terror outfits may try to take advantage of the Dadri and Mainpuri incidents and launch attacks during the festival season and panchayat polls.


The report states that there is a big possibility of terror outfits trying to target Kashi Vishwanath temple and Ramlala temple in Ayodhya.

Meanwhile, the security officials have detained the two men, they are being interrogated in Allahabad.


The newspaper quoted a source as saying that the two accused have revealed that they planned to attack UP Vidahn Sabha, Kanpur railway station and Allahabad high court.
