NEW DELHI: Volkswagen on Tuesday launched the 2017 Passat at a starting price of 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the company's second launch in India this year after the Tiguan SUV.

In its latest version, the Passat brings in a host of visual and feature changes. For starters, the wheelbase of the new car has been stretched by 79mm although the overall length has come down marginally when compared to the outgoing model.  It is also marginally wider and lower, but the boots space has gone up to 586 litres.



 


There are big design changes as well with the new Passat now featuring a wide three-slat grille, LED headlights with DRLs and dynamic light assist.


On the inside, the car now gets a generous 12.3 inch TFT digital instrument cluster, infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HUD display, park assist - among other features.


 



 


The new Passat is powered by a 2-litre four cylinder diesel motor which produces 174 bhp of power. It is mated to a six-speed auto transmission box. Available in six colours, the Passat also features a long list of safety accessories including nine airbags, ESP, ABS, Hill Start Assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and park assist.


The new Passat will continue to rival the likes of Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.
