Brasília: Brazil`s government Thursday filed an appeal against an injunction blocking President Dilma Rousseff from bringing her predecessor Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva into her government, after claims she was shielding him from corruption accusations.

Government attorney Jose Eduardo Cardozo told a news conference he had lodged an appeal against the judge`s ruling, saying "the reason for (Lula`s) nomination is not to save him from an investigation" into alleged corruption.
