Washington: Qiao Shi, a senior Communist Party official and former chairman of China`s legislature, has passed away at the age of 91 in Beijing.

Qiao succumbed to an unspecified illness, for which he was being treated, on Sunday morning, reported Fox News.


He was a member of China`s Politburo Standing Committee for a decade since 1987 and also served as the chairman of the country`s top legislature, the National People`s Congress, from 1993 to 1998.
