Beijing: At least 2.28 million people were affected due to heavy rainfall in northeast China, authorities said Saturday. Rainstorms caused water logging in parts of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Inner Mongolia. Rain-triggered flooding ruined 1.07 million hectares of crops or plants, resulting in direct economic losses of $1.06 billion, reported Xinhua citing the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
Flood prevention work along the Songhuajiang River is underway.
