Halberstadt: It's a rare story when a 'ticking and humming' sound from vibrating sex toy sparked a bomb scare!

Not only this, the incident led to evacuations by bomb disposal squad and nearly three hours of high-profile security operations too.

A worker at a German amusement arcade in Halberstadt heard a suspicious 'ticking and humming' sound coming from a bin in the men’s toilets, and she informed the police about it, according to a report in Independent.

After nearly three hours of full bomb disposal procedures, evacuation of over 90 people from surrounding buildings, it was found that the 'suspicious object' was a discarded sex toy.

According to Peter Hartmann, a spokesperson for police, told that a 38-year-old woman alerted police describing 'strange noises…like ticking and buzzing' emanating from a bin in the men’s toilets.

Normalcy has been restored now.
