Shrapnel from the airstrike hit a nearby house, killing the boy, Yassin Abu Khoussa, and wounding two of his siblings, one seriously, the statement said.

It said Israel carried out five air raids on Hamas facilities.

The strikes came after militants in Gaza fired several rockets at Israel on Friday night, causing no injuries. No militant group took responsibility for the barrage.

Israel holds Hamas, the Islamist militant group that rules Gaza, responsible for all attacks from its territory.
