9:51 pm: According to latest report, two people have died and 17 injured in the building collapse as the search for people feared trapped in the debris continue.
9:40 pm: It is being reported that the New York fire department has termed the incident as the highest threat level possible and dispatched 168 members from more than three dozen fire stations to fight the fire.

Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like an explosion before the building collapsed. Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the street, and video from the scene showed broken windows in neighbouring buildings, the New York Times reported.
