Taipei: The death toll from a powerful earthquake that struck Taiwan on February 6 has increased to 83, authorities announced on Friday.

According to an official update on the casualties, 81 victims were pulled out from the rubble of Tainan`s city collapsed Wei Guan residential complex, the most seriously damaged, Xinhua news agency reported.
