Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko signs `historic` EU deal, extends truce with rebels
Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko on Saturday extended the truce with the rebels for another three days.

Kiev: Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko on Saturday extended the truce with the rebels for another three days.
The extension of ceasefire, which was to end by Friday, has drawn mixed reactions from the rebels. While those in Donetsk and Luhansk have agreed to it, several others have refused to abide by it.
The deadline for the end of the truce was Friday which was later extended to June 30 after Poroshenko held talks with country`s Defence officials. Meanwhile, the militants continue to hold four European observers and their Ukrainian translator hostage even as they released four Organisation and Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) officials, as per AFP news report.
The decision by the Ukraine President was made shortly after he signed a “historic” EU deal with Russia threatening of “consequences,” the BBC reported.
"It is a historic day, the most important day since independence," he reportedly declared. Ukraine`s former president Viktor Yanukovych was ousted shortly after his decision to work with Russia and not sign the deal with the EU.
Apart from Ukraine, the EU signed similar deals with Georgia and Moldova as well.
