UNSC orders destruction of Syria chemical weapons
The United Nations Security Council on Friday agreed on the resolution that allows the removal of chemical weapons from Syria.

United Nations: The United Nations Security Council on Friday agreed on the resolution that allows the removal of chemical weapons from Syria.
The resolution that was agreed by the US and Russia in Geneva earlier this month has been vetted by the 15 member body of the UNSC.
However, the UNSC has not yet approved any punitive action against Syria President Bashar al-Assad`s regime in case it fails to comply with the orders.
While calling the decision historic, United Nations Secretary Ban ki-moon urged the Syrian government to implement the decision without any further delay.
The decision has averted US proposed strike on Syria against the chemical attacks on August 21. The US had blamed Syrian government for attacking its own people.
However, Russia had blamed the anti-government rebels for using chemical weapons.
The US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had mutually agreed on the resolution earlier this month.
On the other hand, Assad has conceded to destroy Syria`s chemical weapons following global outrage over a sarin gas attack in the Damascus suburbs last month.
