Washington: Congratulating Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli on his election as the Prime Minister of Nepal, the US said it encourages all political stakeholders to engage in a democratic process that accommodates the aspirations of all Nepalis.

"The United States congratulates Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli on his election as the Prime Minister of Nepal," said the state department spokesman, Mark Toner.


"We look forward to working with the Prime Minister on ongoing efforts to rebuild after the earthquake and to bring about a more prosperous, unified, and stable Nepal," he said.


"The United States encourages all political stakeholders to fully engage in a democratic process that accommodates the aspirations of all Nepalis," he said in a statement.


Senior Communist leader K P Sharma Oli was yesterday sworn in as Nepal's Prime Minister.


63-year-old Oli, who was elected as Prime Minister in Parliament on Sunday.
