The 80-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader is at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for over a fortnight as he is undergoing "precautionary prostate treatment".

"I want to take this opportunity to convey my greetings to our people, ordained and lay, young and old, especially those inside Tibet, as well as those in exile.”

"Since the Tibetan new year is approaching, I want to wish you `Tashi Delek` (Tibetan greetings)," he said and thanked all who have been praying for his well being.
