Kanishka Pandey, whose father Dr. Ajai Shanker Pandey is a senior IAS officer of UP cadre and currently on deputation as officer on special duty with the governor of Rajasthan, is the author of the book 'Sports: A Way of Life'.

The book was launched by national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand last year.

"The current university students have failed miserably in understanding the value of sports in their lives and the onus lies with their parents, their teachers and their curriculum," Pandey wrote in his letter to Javadekar.

Pandey called for not just improvement in infrastructure but also the overall curriculum for sports.

"This will help in expanding the talent pool base, besides it will also help in developing human beings with solid moral character," he said.

"If you wish to get the curriculum prepared or need some support in relation to the study material, I shall be forthcoming," he added.
