According to Pinkvilla.com, senior Bachchan had received a special invitation from Queen and Prince Philip, the Duke Of Edinburgh to attend the UK-India Year of Culture launch. Unfortunately, the thespian won't be able to make it to the event due to prior work commitments.

The report quotes a leading daily where Bachchan senior's spokesperson has been quoted as saying, “Yes, Mr Bachchan has been extended a rare invitation by Queen Elizabeth and Buckingham Palace to grace the UK-India Cultural Year reception. Unfortunately, however, he will be unable to attend due to prior commitments.”

Bachchan senior even extended his deep felt regret in not being able to make it to the big event. On February 27, 2017, the Queen Elizabeth II will be hosting the UK-India year of Culture launch at the Buckingham Palace.
