Mumbai: Politician Abu Azmi, who has often been in news for making controversial comments, has done it again. The Samajwadi Party leader reacted to singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi's tweet about ‘imposed religiosity’ by making sexist remarks against her, report suggests.
According to Mid-Day, Azmi not only called her ‘stupid’ but he went on to make some misogynist comments.
He reportedly said that women like her put their arms around men and roam around at 2AM in the night. He also said that he will use harsher words, if people make ill-informed comments on religion.
For those who may not be aware, here’s the background. Krishnamoorthi took to Twitter Sunday to express her displeasure over the loud sounds of the Azaan in her neighbourhood early in the morning.
She wrote:
On a related note, singer Sonu Nigam too had courted controversy for expressing his views on the use of loudspeakers at places of worship. A Cleric had reportedly issued a Fatwa against him and in response, Nigam tonsured his head voluntarily.
Also, a few days later, the singer quit Twitter as he believed it harboured negativity.
