Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who joined Ajit Pawar's faction of NCP, died after being shot at by unidentified persons. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar in the Bandra area of Mumbai. Baba completed his schooling in Mumbai and was actively involved in student politics while graduating from MMK College. He was born in Majha, Gopalganj, Bihar, Baba Siddique first came to Mumbai in 1964, living with his father, who repaired watches. Baba Siddique came to Mumbai when he was very young, living in a small room with his father and residing in a small room in Bandra.
According to reports, he spent some time working with people in the film industry, learning their ways and strategies. This helped him pave his way into Bollywood, where he earned wealth and fame. He started as a municipal corporator and then moved on to become an MLA. Baba began his political journey with the Congress party, joining the NSUI in 1977. By 1980, he became the General Secretary of the Bandra Youth Congress and in 1982, he was elected as its President. In 1988, he took on the role of President of the Mumbai Youth Congress.
Reportedly, Congress leader Sunil Dutt played a pivotal role in securing Baba Siddique's first electoral ticket. It was at Sunil Dutt's recommendation that Vilasrao Deshmukh awarded Baba the ticket.
