Delhi-Meerut RRTS LIVE Updates: The priority section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS (Rapidx later changed to NaMo Bharat) will be inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a statement to ANI one of the residents of the area, Rakesh Sharma said "We are very excited." He added, "The crowd in East Zone is dense and commuting is difficult. This network will reduce the travel time to Meerut and help people."

    Other people had similar reactions and talked about how NaMo Bharat will make commuting easier for the residents. One of the locals said, "There were a few problems (in commuting to Meerut)...This will make the travel to Meerut easier."

    Based on reports, for a RapidX connection to the future Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, the NCR Transport Corporation has proposed three routes. The routes, all of which have slightly different alignments and leave from the RapidX station in Ghaziabad, travel through Greater Noida West, curve into Pari Chowk, and then proceed directly onto the NIA on the Yamuna Expressway. The routes range in length from 70 to 72 kilometers, and at first, they were expected to carry between 2.9 and 3.7 lakh passengers annually.

    German Ambassador to India, Philipp Ackermann will be present at the inauguration event of the NaMo Bharat train. In a statement to media, he said "I am very honoured and privileged to be here today." 

    He added, "It is a fabulous project, the fastest train in India so far. It's a shuttle train that comes under NCRTC from Meerut to Delhi. It runs at a speed of 160 km/hr." He also mentioned that the rapid rail will be run Deutsche Bahn.

    He further said, "I think it is a very interesting project also in the context of climate change, in the context of environmental protection because public transport will take away traffic from the roads. Germany and India have concluded the Green & Sustainable Partnership for Development. I think this is a very important step also. It makes it more carbon-free in a way...It is a fantastic addition to the NCR..."

    The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, which is being built at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore, would go from Delhi to Meerut through the cities of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, and Modinagar in less than an hour. Once fully operational the train will cover a distance of 82-km with multiple stops on the route.

    Every train will have six coaches, one of which will be a luxury carriage. Every train has one coach allocated for women, which is positioned next to the luxury coach. Coach seats are serially numbered. In addition, there are allocated seats in other coaches for women, the disabled, and senior persons.

    The city's traffic police have scheduled diversions for Friday in anticipation of Prime Minister Modi's visit to Ghaziabad. From 7 a.m. till the end of the programme, all heavy, medium, and light commercial vehicles will be prohibited from the Hindon air base roundabout to Sahibabad via Mohan Nagar and from the Link Road police station and traffic signal to Sahibabad.

    Prior to Prime Minister Modi's visit to Ghaziabad for the launch of the NaMo Bharat rail service, the local police have issued a warning and traffic restrictions. The city's Vasundhara neighborhood will host the inaugural ceremony.

    The Ghaziabad Traffic Police has put in place temporary traffic restrictions and a detour in the region to ensure that PM Modi and other guests may travel around without incident. To avoid any form of inconvenience, the police have advised commuters to seek alternate routes and adhere to the regulations of the road.

    Before the inauguration of the NaMo Bharat trains, NCRTC announced the prices of the tickets for Standard and Premium Class trains. Based on the announcement, fares for the standard class ranged between Rs 20 and Rs 50, while the fares for the premium class ranged between Rs 40 and Rs 100. The highest fare of Rs 50 and Rs 100 will be applicable for passengers travelling between the end stations i.e., Sahibabad and Duhai Depot.

  • Delhi-Meerut RRTS LIVE: Rapidx Renamed To NaMo Bharat

    The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS project was given the Rapidx name earlier. However, it was later changed to NaMo Bharat a day before the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Multiple political leaders took a swipe at the government following the name change.

    "After Namo stadium now Namo trains. There is simply no limit to his self-obsession," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Prime Minister Narendra is has flagged off India's first rapid rail transit system to the citizens in the form of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, NaMo Bharat today. During the inauguration event PM showed the green flag to the NaMo Bharat train connecting covering a 17-km stretch from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, which is the priority section of the Rapidx. This stretch covers a total of five stations namely; Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and the Duhai Depot.

NaMo Bharat is a high-frequency, high-speed transit system with a top speed of 180 kph. It will be able to operate at a maximum speed of about 160 kph, with an average speed of 100 kph. Furthermore, the train will provide passengers with multiple facilities including air-conditioning coaches, and will have a carrying capacity of around 1700 passengers.
