"I always respect women personally and in my films. I definitely do not agree with Chalapathi Rao's derogatory comments," Nagarjuna tweeted on Tuesday.

At the audio launch of Nagarjuna's son Naga Chaitanya's forthcoming Telugu film ‘Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam’ on Sunday, Rao was asked about the role of women in people's lives.

He said: "Women are only fit to be good partners in bed." Rao's statement was faced with stiff criticism on social media.

‘Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam’, which is slated for release on Friday, is directed by Kalyan Krishna.

The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh.
