As per Bollywoodlife.com, the film has so far earned Rs 114 crore at the worldwide Box Office. This is Rajinikanth's second film after 'Kabali' to have crossed Rs 100 crore in the opening weekend itself at the ticket counter.

The mega-budget, produced by Rajinikanth's son Dhanush, has already earned Rs 230 before its theatrical release via satellite and music rights. With this magical number, Rajinikanth has once again proved why he is the king of the Box Office.

'Kaala' released in over 2,000 screens worldwide and has so far witnessed an impressive opening. This is the first movie of Rajinikanth since he announced his political foray. The film faced severe opposition in both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Several Tamil activists and political parties voiced their opposition to Rajinikanth's views on the violence in Thuthookudi.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films, 'Kaala' stars Rajinikanth as a mob boss of the slum Dharavi. Besides Rajini, the film also features Nana Patekar, Eswari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani among others. The music of the film is composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
