New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare’s links with the RSS were raked up again on Sunday when a newspaper report came out with fresh ‘evidence’.
The report claimed that Hazare, who has been campaigning for anti-corruption Lokpal Bill, had links with RSS patriarch Nanaji Deshmukh.
It has been claimed that Anna was in the close circles of Deshmukh and used to accompany him to many functions in Uttar Pradesh. The RSS has however rubbished the report. RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav reportedly said one can’t be called someone’s close aide just because he has met him.
While speaking to Zee News, Madhav even went on to say that even Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had taken part in one of RSS’ programmes. Following the report Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma described Hazare as a RSS agent. Another Congress leader Rashid Alvi asked the Gandhian to clear the air on his ideology and belief.
Meanwhile, Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal hit back at the Gandhian’s critics saying he was not Sangh’s but the nation’s agent.
