1st Test: England crush South Africa by 241 runs after Moeen Ali`s seven-wicket haul

After losing the four-match Test series against India recently, the Proteas suffered another big loss, this time at home.

Durban: Alastair Cook-led England crushed South Africa by 241 runs on the fifth and final day of the first Test at Kingsmead on Wednesday.

Moeen Ali was too hot to handle for the Proteas, as the off-spinner claimed three early wickets, including one of AB de Villiers (37), who failed to add to his overnight score.

There was absolutely no resistance from the lower middle-order as South Africa lost their last six wickets for 38 runs.

The hosts started their innings at 136/4, but suffered a huge blow when de Villiers was trapped lbw by Ali off the third ball of the day.

Ali claimed his third wicket of the morning when Kyle Abbott too was trapped in front of the wicket, just like de Villiers.

JP Duminy tried holding one end, but he remained 26 not out as Broad bowled them out by dismissing Morne Morkel.

South Africa have plenty to ponder over, and the injury to Dale Steyn will do no good to their confidence.
