Lahore: President Asif Ali Zardari was listed as an option to a multiple-choice question for school students on `what forms the basis of the system of life`, prompting authorities in Pakistan`s Punjab province to order a probe into the matter.
Class 9 students appearing in tests in schools in southern Punjab were given unusual options in several multiple-choice questions in an Urdu paper.
A question on what forms the basis of the system of life listed "Zardari Sahib" as one of the possible answers. The other options were religion, world and wealth. Another question in a separate test asked students who was responsible for the protection of Pakistan.
The options listed for this multiple-choice question were Allah, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, "Zardari Sahib" and the Pakistani people.
Punjab Education Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman told reporters that the papers were set by a teacher from Dera Ghazi Khan, 450 km from Lahore, and that an investigation had been ordered to ascertain how "Zardari Sahib" was listed as one of the possible answers. "Action will be taken against those found to be involved in this matter," he said.
