India`s tour of Australia: It`s up to MS Dhoni, BCCI to take call on DRS, says Rohit Sharma
Debate over DRS started again when George Bailey was not given out by field umpire in 1st ODI.
New Delhi: As the Decision Review System (DRS) is back in news after the Perth ODI, Indian opener Rohit Sharma on Thursday said that it's up to the skipper and the Indian cricket board (BCCI) to take a decision regarding the use of the controversial system.
While talking about DRS, Rohit stated: "What I say here is going to be material because it's absolutely not my decision. But I think whatever suits the team and whatever is the best for the team I am sure the BCCI and the captain will do it.”
In the series opener, debate over DRS started all over again when George Bailey was not given out by field umpire Richard Kettleborough after debutant pacer Barinder Sran got the Australian caught behind down the leg side.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has never been very fond of using DRS, had yet again backed his stance.
Dhoni said that there should not be umpires' decision justification system but instead there should be umpires taking right decision.
"We have to push the umpires to take the right decision and you have to see how many 50-50 decision doesn't go in our favour and it always happen. I am still not convinced about DRS," he said after the match.
"There is quite a few deviation in DRS. Even the makers agree that there is a bit of deviation that can happen. You have to also take into account weather to give not out or out. So DRS should not be umpires decision justification system. It should be giving the right decision," he added.
