India`s tour of Australia: Alarmed CA acknowledges imbalance between bat and ball
An unprecedented 2498 runs have been scored in the four matches so far, with both the teams crossing that magical 300-run mark with relative ease.
New Delhi: After an uninhibited run feast so far in the ongoing One-Day International series against visiting India, Cricket Australia woke up to acknowledge the imbalance between bat and ball on Thursday.
An unprecedented 2498 runs have been scored in the four matches so far, with both the teams crossing that magical 300-run mark with relative ease.
And it seemed, the figures have alarmed Cricket Australia.
"In an ideal world we've got some of the best fast bowlers in the world who like it hard, fast and bouncy and we're not getting that at the moment," CA's general manager of team performance Pat Howard was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald.
At the same time, Howard empathized with the young fast bowlers, especially the Aussies -- who have ruined their stats bowling against the talents of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in batting friendly pitches.
"Let's not get lost. The ODIs have been great games. Great chases. But I think it's been a very hard introduction for a few of these blokes to international cricket. On two things: the pitches, but also the talent. The Indian batsmen are absolutely wonderful players," Howard added.
Australia have already won the five-match ODI series, after winning the first four matches on the trot. The final match of the series will be played at Sydney on Saturday.
Then, they will switch format to T20 Internationals.
