After being in a commanding position in the third ODI, India once again let the match slip out of their hands as Glenn Maxwell hammered a 96-run knock. Dhoni came under criticism for his move to remove Ravindra Jadeja from the bowling attack soon after he had dismissed Steve Smith and George Bailey in quick succession.

Speaking to CNN IBN, former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth also said that it was time to ask Dhoni to step down as captain as the team was bigger than any individual.

2015 was a forgettable year for Dhoni, where after the ICC World Cup 2015, India lost an ODI series vs Bangladesh, another ODI series against South Africa and a T20I series against South Africa under his leadership.

Not just his captaincy, but even his batting is under scanner as India has terribly missed a finisher in the ongoing four-match series vs the Aussies. Even though Dhoni smashed 23 runs off 8 balls in the third ODI, his overall performance has been nothing close to what we have seen from him in the past, with the Ranchi-born cricket amassing just 52 runs from last three innings.

On the other hand, Kohli is once again in sublime form, with two half-centuries and one ton in the last three ODIs.

With the ICC World Twenty20 just few months away, the selectors certainly have plenty to ponder over retaining Dhoni as the skipper of the team.
