As expected the former India batsman went for a virtuoso One-Day International eleven featuring the legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Sourav Ganguly and Anil Kumble.

The criteria for selection, according to Sportskeeda, was that the players should have played in Australia and since 1985. But Laxman omitted himself from the list, which also has three active players.

The 41-year-old opted Ganguly to lead the side ahead of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who also featured in the side.

Ganguly will open the batting with Tendulkar, followed by Virat Kohli at No. 3. Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin comes at four, ahead of Yuvraj Singh. Wicket-keeper Dhoni will bat ahead of bowling all-rounder Kapil Dev.

Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra will share the pace bowling duties with Kapil, while Anil Kumble is the lone spinner in the squad.
