New Delhi: While he remains to be one of the key observers of the game, the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) is contemplating to drop former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar from their commentators list.

According to a report in The Times of India, while other commentators are paid an amount between Rs 35,000 to Rs 1 lakh per day for doing commentary, Gavaskar was reportedly paid eight times that amount for a day's commentary. The board sources say that Gavaskar is “very expensive."


The Indian board is also of the view that that Gavaskar hasn't toed the board's views in his role as commentator.


Sanjay Manjrekar is likely to be promoted along with noted commenatator Harsha Bhogle.


According to the report, BCCI's relationship with Gavaskar could come to an end in April-May when his contract as a commentator comes up for renewal.
