Work at the Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission has come to a standstill after its chief demitted office on Oct 24.
Srinagar: Work at the Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has come to a standstill after its chief demitted office on Oct 24, three days ago.
"Justice (retd) Syed Bashir-ud-Din demitted office on Oct 24, 2011 after completion of his term. All the work at the commission including allotment of cases and routine administration has come to a standstill as the state government is yet to nominate his successor," sources at the SHRC told a news agency.
The term is three years and sources said the government would have known about it and should have appointed a person for the crucial post.
