Bangalore: Karnataka BJP strongman BS Yeddyurappa on Friday held a meeting with his loyalist party legislators at his Race Course residence in a fresh bid to get himself reinstated as the state’s Chief Minister.
The meeting holds significance as it coincides with the concluding day of the Budget Session of the Karnataka Legislature.
Sources claimed that Yeddyurappa had also invited Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda and State BJP chief KS Eshwarappa to attend the breakfast meeting.
At least 64 MLAs were reported to be present during the meeting. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether Sadananda Gowda and Eshwarappa attended the meeting at his residence.
In a show of strength to exert pressure on the BJP high command to reinstate him as chief minister, Yeddyurappa on March 18 shifted his loyalist MLAs to a resort, claiming that he enjoyed unconditional support of majority of the ruling party legislators.
Yeddyurappa also went to Delhi and met top BJP leaders over the leadership issue.
However, he was told by the BJP central leadership to have patience for some time and allow the smooth conduct of the Budget Session.
He had been keeping a low profile for the last few days.
