Ranchi: Jharkhand on Tuesday launched government accounts for girls of BPL families which would grow to over Rupees one lakh at the age of 21 to mark its 12th foundation day. Under the `Mukhya Mantri Ladli Laxmi Yozana`, the government would deposit Rs 6000 per year in the account of a girl child of BPL families between zero and five years who would receive Rs 1,11,000 on attaining the age of 21.
The scheme was launched in the presence of Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Governor Syed Ahmed and other leaders.
Beneficiaries from BPL families received passbooks from them. November 15 this year to November 15 next year was also declared as `Girl child and Protection of Childhood`.
A capacity crowd at the Birsa Munda stadium was enthralled with traditional dances to film numbers, cycling and songs.
