Kathmandu: A landslide hit a village in western Nepal on Saturday, killing seven people, injuring 19 others and damaging buildings.

The landslide hit Mijhing village of Rolpa district this morning and destroyed eight houses and as many shops, and caused losses worth over Rs 50 million. Among the seven killed were two elderly persons and a five-year-old girl, police said.

The 19 others, who were injured, were being treated in a hospital. A rescue team comprising Nepal Army personnel, policemen and local volunteers were rushed to the site for rescue operations.
