BJP promises to keep Manipur territory intact
BJP promised to keep in tact the territorial integrity of Manipur besides trying to withdraw the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Imphal: BJP on Wednesday promised to keep in
tact the territorial integrity of Manipur besides trying to
withdraw the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act,
1958 from the state.
The party will also initiate peace process with insurgent outfits and provide a corruption-free government, BJP said in its election manifesto released here. The party would do its best to protect Loktak lake, biggest fresh water body in the north eastern region, and improve state highways.
Releasing the manifesto, party spokesman Prakash Javedkar said if voted to power, BJP would accord revenue district status to Jiribam in Imphal East and Sadar Hills in Senapati districts as demanded by the people. Javedkar said Panchayat and local bodies would also be empowered.
