Itanagar: Following a three-month-long leadership crisis in the state, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin resigned on Saturday. It is believed that AICC leaders had asked Gamlin to put in his papers to which he complied, sending his resignation letter to the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
Congress leaders from the state had met party president Sonia Gandhi over the issue in New Delhi last week and demanded the removal of Gamlin who is facing abduction charges. The leadership crisis in the state emerged when Gamlin was accused of getting a senior state Cabinet minister, Chowma Mein, abducted.
The minister was allegedly abducted for a few hours in state capital Itanagar at gunpoint.
