Patna: The state government was probing a case of sanction of money for a house under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) to a `dead` man in Sitamarhi district four years ago, Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra said today.
In reply to a question by the BJP MLC Baidnath Prasad in the legislative council, Mishra said a deputy collector was probing the incident and stringent action would be taken against those found guilty in the matter. In Bhaluahi village under Koriahi panchayat, Kistu Thakur, a `dead` farmer, was sanctioned money under the IAY for construction of a house in 2008.
The minister said his department has directed the local officials to stop transfer of the money to the bank account of the `dead` man.
In reply to another question by the JD(U) MLC Vinod Kumar Chaudhary, Mishra said he was aware of sanction of money to three persons twice for house under the IAY in a village under Kathari block in Begusarai district and said local officials have been asked to issue notice to the beneficiaries to return the excess money.
