India vs Pakistan: Police won`t lathicharge, use tear gas if ex-servicemen make a wall, says HP CM
Singh said his government had not refused to provide security for the March 19 game.
New Delhi: With growing uncertainty surrounding the India-Pakistan match in Dharamshala, Pakistan government on Friday announced its decision of sending a team to take note of the security arrangements.
On Saturday, Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh stated that his government had not asked fo additional security from the centre, as they had enough resources.
However, Mr Singh also said that police won't lathicharge or use tear gas should ex-servicemen stage a protest or form a human wall at the venue of the World Twenty20 clash.
“We have not asked for forces from Centre, we will have enough security. If ex-servicemen make a wall there, our police won't lathicharge them or use tear gas on them,” he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to a report in the Times of India, Singh said his government had not refused to provide security for the March 19 game.
“But I still stand by my decision, that organizers of the match first take permission from the martyrs' families. They are not opposing the holding of matches. They are against the Pakistan team playing in Himachal Pradesh,” Singh said.
