But it seemed, the explosive batsman saved the best for the last. In the final of the ODI series against arch-rivals England, the explosive batsman played a crucial role with the bat to not only pull his team out of trouble but also to dictate terms.

He came to the crease when his side was in deep trouble, with scorecard reading 60 for 4, after the visitors invited them to bat first. But the right-hander regained his lost form and played a cracking knock at a time when his team needed him the most. He played a scintillating knock of 95 off 98 balls, studded with 15 boundaries.

In his explosive innings, he hit the English bowlers all over the park. The 26-year-old added 141-runs for the fifth wicket with another all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who also scored a quick-fire 60 off 68.

The dangerous batsmen didn't stop there. When Australia came to defend their challenging total of 278, he returned with four wickets to shine with the ball as well. His all-round show helped the home team to crush England by 112 runs and win the tri-series.

For his outstanding show with bat and ball, Maxwell was rewarded with Man of the Match award, which he truly deserved.

It's a good news for Australia, that their match-winner is back in form just in time for the World Cup 2015, starting in two weeks time.
