Resuming play at 11/0, the day started on a poor note for the Indian team after Alastair Cook (49) was dropped at the score of 4 by Parthiv Patel in the third over of the day. That was the start of a frustrating morning session for the hosts as Cook and Keaton Jennings (54) added 103 runs for the opening wicket.

After lunch, Jadeja provided first breakthrough when he dismissed Cook for the sixth time in the series. Cook played with the spin, to a delivery which spun into him, but edged it towards leg slips where Lokesh Rahul held on to a good catch.

That was the start of a fine spell from Jadeja, as he dismissed Jennings and Joe Root (6) in quick succession.

Ishant Sharma provided India with a fourth breakthrough, but it was more of Jadeja's wicket than the bowler's. After Jonny Bairstow played a pull shot off a bouncer by Ishant, Jadeja sprinted towards his back from midwicket and held on to the catch of the series.

Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes became Jadeja's next two victims as he claimed a much-deserved five-wicket haul.
