Subsequently, it was a partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes which offered Indian bowlers a real test.

Stokes was the next batsman to depart on 29 as England went 5 down at 150. It was Ravindra Jadeja who dismissed Stokes after inviting him to step out of the pitch, and Parthiv Patel did rest of the job by stumping the Englishman.

As soon as Stokes was dismissed, an apparent war of words emerged between him and Indian captain Virat Kohli, the reason for which isn't known.

To prevent the situation from getting worse, umpire had to intervene and calm down Kohli.
