Chandigarh: To bring transparency in execution of development works at the panchayat level, the Punjab government will make all Panchayat accounts available online soon.
To bring transparency in allotment and utilisation of funds alloted to panchayats, the accounts of all panchayats of the state would be made online soon, Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said. The online work of accounts is already in progress in 20 Zila Parishads and 142 Block Samities, Rakhra said.
He said that out of 12,776 villages in Punjab, accounts of 4668 villages have already been converted into the electronic mode.
The remaining accounts will soon be made online and officials have been directed to complete the project on a priority basis, he added. PTI
